Modhera-SUN TEMPLE + Water Resort (theme park) .. tour... Dec 2nd & 3rd

Salary was credited...Now its time for planning a trip.. December 2nd and 3rd.. first weekend of the month.. I and four of my colleagues started from Gandhinagar (Gujarat/India) to a SUN TEMPLE @ Modhera.. Its Dec 2nd evening, when we are at Gandhinagar bus terminal. We dont even planned the trip. Our aim was to go to Modhera-suntemple. We enquired in the bus terminal and gathered the route details. The time-keeper in the bus terminal said that we have to go to Mehsana(which is nearest town to Modhera-village). So we got a bus to Mehsana and reached there by night. We had heavy food in a hotel. Its rare to see a non-veg hotel in Gujarat. But all we guys ,being a south-indian, finds craze over non-veg. so we always get inside non-veg hotels. We booked a room in the hotel we ate. One of my colleague has a punjabi-bracelet in his hand. The lodge fellow was a Singh(punjabi natives). He noticed the bracelet and so he reduced the lodge rent to Rs.400/- from 500/-.

We planned to wake-up early in the morning and go to Modhera. But as we are tired and slept well,we are unable to wake early. One of our colleague managed to get early and went alone to Modhera while we are sleeping. Me and rest three fellows stared late in the morning(Dec 3rd). Its almost 9 o'clock morning. We reached the temple by 9:45 am. Our colleague who went there early was standing lonely. But he enjoyed the early morning ambience.

The Sun-temple was built in 1027 C.E (Current Era or A.D) by a king named Bhimdev-I. Later it was ruined partly by Muhamad Gajini. Its not a too big temple. But the age attaches importance. Also a step well kind of pond(i dont know how to explain !) infront of the temple is great. But no water in it. It is some 20 feet depth. and 1/4th the size of foot ball ground. But the step design is awesome.. I remembered the tamil song "Theendai .. mei theendai.. thaandai padi thaandai" (coz, the song is filmed in such a step-well). Later we took some photos. It was 11:30am and we started back. We reached Mehsana by 12:30 pm.

There we came to know about a water theme park "Water Resort" nearby Mehsana. So we started to theme park. It was some 15kms away from Mehsana and its towards Gandhinagar route. We reached the theme park. But we wanted to have food. There were couple of good hotels infront of the theme park. So we landed in one of the hotel. We had some good food there. Dosa and sambar are good. Atlast we ordered Lassi. The lassi was too great.. I have never tasted a lassi of such a good taste before.. It was almost 3:40pm.. We finished our food and went to theme park's ticket counter. The ticket was Rs.150 per head. It was reduced to 120/- as the wave-pool and another ride was closed for maintenance. Also we came to know that the theme-park timing was from 11am to 5pm.We were in a dilemma whether to go-in or return back,as there was no time to enjoy. But we got the ticket.

Inside they charged Rs.60 for swim-suit. Also Rs.100 for locker. So, I felt bad. We were on the right track till that time. But at this moment we are spending too much money for which we are not going to enjoy. Just 1hr left. I started to the rides unwillingly. But i got thrilled in a ride(from the top we will slide down to a pool). I felt the speed and thrill of the ride like a F-15 fighter jet experience. Then gradually i got interest and enjoyed other rides. Unfortunately my mobile's charge was down and also there were no space to store new photos. So we dint took any photos in the theme-park.

I know that day (Dec 3rd) was "karthigai"(lord murugan's b'day). It is my favorite festival in my home. My mom will make Nine side-dishes as "padayal"(food offering for god). So i called my mom's mobile. I spoke with mom & dad. Later we reached gandhinagar by 7:30pm. Then we loaded the photos from my mobile to a computer and rewinded the enjoyment.

Then i called back my home once again by 8:30pm and chatted about the "karthigai" festival in my home town. My mom greeted B'day wishes for me (Coz, my b'day is on Karthigai on basis of star).

The theme is : PLAN THE TRAVEL. ENJOY THE TRIP. DONT PLAN WITHOUT KNOWING THE TIMINGS OF ANY
TOURIST-SPOT OR THEME-PARK. TRY TO COVER NEARBY PLACES IN A SINGLE TRIP.

Diwali 2006-trip to my hometown(Theni:Tamilnadu)

Atlast came the long awaited day, oct18, for visiting my hometown on the eve of Diwali. I started lonely form Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad Airport, as my trip-companion got some work on oct18th. Its Airdeccan and asusually delayed for 30minutes. I could see lot of Tamils, who were waiting as like me for the Airdeccan. Its my first time flight experience and hence I was listening to all the instructions. I phoned to my home and few friends in Chennai. I was also thinking about, how to go to my home town form Chennai as i dint booked Omni-bus. Finally the flight arrived and all the passengers boarded the flight. It was similar to TownBus in Tamilnadu. Since the seat no.s are not reserved in Airdeccan, all the passengers rushed to get a good seat. I am the last to board the flight. Atlast i got a good chatting guy near me. He spoke about his work and the places he lived in. In an hour and few minutes the flight reached Hyderabad. Again after some half-an-hour the flight took-off and in next one hour i was in chennai. Its 1:30pm and i thought of purchasing some sarees for my mom. So i got unit-train in Thirisulam station (opp to chennai airport). In the train i could see some high-school students getting-down at every station and boarding on the running-train everytime. They spoke local-chennai-tamil. Its nice to see those fellows. Atlast i reached Pothy's mall and searched for sarees. Since its my first experience in selecting a saree, i took lot of time. Finally I took two sarees. Then i took "Onion-Masal-dosa" in "SaravanaBhavan", as i could spend my Sodexho food coupons.
Then i phoned Arimanicam anna (my elder-brother's close friend & friend of me too). He said i will come to Koyambedu by 4:30pm. I rushed to koyambedu bus terminal. The town bus is heavily crowded and it took almost 45min to reach koyambedu. I met Arimanicam anna. He was with me searching for Theni-tickets. Atlast we got a ticket with high-price and got it. I should really thank Arimanicam anna for being with me at that evening.
The omni-bus started and the next day morning (oct19th) i was in my home. I went to Bodi, to see my aachi(grandma),uncle & aunt and their small cute kids. On oct20th i met my school friends. Had nice time with my school friends. I purchased some crackers to get the feel of diwali.
oct 21st, Diwali, I got up asuausal and the day was quite slow. But by 11am most of my friends came to my home. So really enjoyed Diwali with our great chat. Its all about our first job experience and some old college-stories.
oct22st. I and my friends went to movie (Vallavan). On the next day i have to leave back to Chennai, to catch Navajeevan Express at Chennai-central. On oct23, i packed all things and started. I reached Chennai on 24th early morning. Its raining outside and i got wet. From Koyambedu, i boarded a town-bus to Central-Station. I reached Central-station early. So i took food and waited for train. My train was on platform-10. Its almost 9:30am and i was in the train. All passengers boarded. One fellow near me talked to me in Hindi, thinking me as a North-Indian. Then i responded him in Tamil. He was little surprised and asked "Tamilaaa..!" Then we started chatting. Our group grown into 6member team. With all 6-Tamils the two day train journey was not that hard. I learnt lot from their live-stories. On Oct-25th night i was back in Ahmedabad........

And Miles to go Before i sleep...

Along the greeeen chill western ghats of TamilNadu is the place where i spent almost 21 years of my life. Theni & Coimbatore are the places, I remember at least once a day. After my schooling in TheniKammavarSangam Matric School (TKSM) lies the best four years of my life in Govt College of Technology (GCT), Coimbatore. All the way till college was green & cool. After joining TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) things changed. Its my first trip towards North of India to Bubaneswar,Orissa for TCS training (ILP).I have never imagined a couple of months back that i will visit the famous Konark(SunTemple),Puri (worst maintained place i have ever seen in mylife) and NandanKannan(only white tiger reserve in Asia). Two months of fun with my collegemates in Bubaneswar training came to an end with my allocation to TCS- Ahmedabad,Gujarat. This time its west of India. By now I got habituated for 1000km journeys. Then obviously i started for an weekend trip to Great Mumbai. But dint spend even a half-day as I moved to Pune, to see my school friends. Its after 6months I met my school friends. Immediately after a week to Mumbai-Pune trip I and my Ahmedabad(actually Gandhinagar) roommates went for a trip to Mount-Abu in Rajastan(Worth to see once). Still the trip keeps going on.And miles to goooooo ------>>>>>>>>
